Caesar (Leo), ormanın kralı olan beyaz bir aslandır. Tek amacı ormanda bütün hayvanların özgür ve barış içinde yaşamasını sağlamaktır. Bunun için insan avcılarla giriştiği mücadele sırasında avcılar, Caesar'ı tuzağa düşürmek amacıyla eşi dişi aslan Snowene'i yakalayıp hapsederler. O'nu kurtarmak isteyen Caesar avcılar tarafından vurulur ve hayatını kaybeder. Snowene ise Avrupa’ya bir hayvanat bahçesine verilmek üzere bir gemiye bindirilir. Casear ve Snowene'nin çocukları Kimba bu gemide doğar.
Kimba babası gibi cesur bir aslan olmak istemektedir. Bunun için gemiden kaçarak tekrar babasının hüküm sürdüğü Afrika topraklarına geri dönmek ister. Bu sırada bir fırtına çıkar ve Kimba gemiden kaçmayı başarır Fakat içinde annesinin olduğu gemi batarak sulara gömülür. Kimba balıkların yardımıyla yüzerek hayatta kalmayı başarır ve bir süre sonra O da babası gibi ormanın kralı olarak bütün hayvanların özgür ve barış içinde yaşaması için mücadele etmeye başlar.
